The End

All things come to an end. Books have a final chapter. Games have the final horn or buzzer. Work shifts have a quitting time. Seasons of fall, winter, spring and summer come and go. Childhood ends. So does young adulthood and senior adulthood. Even life comes to an end. Marriages end in death or divorce.

Jobs, homes, friends and social circles come and go. There are many endings in life.

What about the end. When life comes to an abrupt or not so abrupt halt. When life fades to death. I have known some who wandered why they lingered so long outliving spouses, in some cases children, siblings and friends. They questioned why God left them. Even for them the end came eventually.

For others the end comes way too soon. Horrible things like cancer and tragedy have taken so many so young. Just this week a 14 year old boy leaving a convenience store heading home after playing basketball got struck by a stray bullet in a shootout and died. Two men went fishing and their boat capsized. One body has been found and they continue the search for the other. Tragic endings.

Life comes to an end. Pets die. Plants die. People die. It is reality. You would think people would think about their own mortality more. So many are unprepared for death and eternity. Just because many do not believe in the afterlife does not make it any less real. There is a real heaven and a real hell.

The blood bought redeemed believers end up in heaven. The rebellious defiant unbelievers are sentenced to hell forever. No amount of education, sophistication, wealth insulation can alter that truth one bit. And multitudes perish by the thousands into eternal damnation. That is their end. Yet few contemplate that fact. Preachers make it sound like everyone goes to heaven at funerals. Too afraid to offend someone they sugar coat funeral messages knowing full well what eternal fates hang in the balance for the hearers.

Studies show another baby boomer dies about every 18 seconds. That is over 4,600 a day. Another end in the time it took me to write these past two sentences. Two more lives ended. Two more eternities begun.

What about you? What will be your end? I am not talking about the when and where of your death. I am talking about what will happen for you afterward. Where will you spend eternity? What will be your ultimate end? If you have never turned to Jesus in repentance and faith for His forgiveness and salvation your end is doomed. It gives me no pleasure to write that. I don't want your eternal end to be damnation and suffering forever.

What is the alternative? Turn to Jesus. Admit your sinful ways and inability to make amends on your own merit. Ask Jesus to forgive you and save you. Believe in your heart that is exactly why He died on the cross. Confess with your mouth Jesus is your new Lord. He will take care of the rest.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9-13 (NKJV)
9  that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11  For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
12  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
13  For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

The end is coming for us all. While you have a chance determine where you will end. Please do it before it is too late.
