Camp Meeting Devotions - Day Eleven

New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. (1995). (Ps 51:6). La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,

And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.

We all have our secrets. Those things that might make us blush if others knew about us. Things we desperately try to hide out of fear of what others would think. We cannot hide anything from God. He sees all and knows all. He sees our hidden deeds, our cloaked motivations, our sincere attitudes, and our secret sins.

God desires the truth about us in our innermost being. Not for His part. He already knows the truth. He wants us to be honest with Him so that our secrets do not hinder our walk with Him. To be honest as we look deep within. It hurts when we have to admit that we are liars, gossipers, thieves, slanderers, hate mongers, adulterers and a host of other vile things.

Down deep where nobody but you and God can see, what is the truth of your spiritual condition? Do you have any other person in your life that you can be honest with in confession? Many do not out of shame and worry that their secrets could become public knowledge. It is not wise to share secret sins with everyone. It is Biblical to share them with someone you trust. [James 5:16]

As long as Satan can keep our secret sins secret we are held hostage in his darkness. Once we bring them into the light, he no longer can use them against us. He is a liar, deceiver, and the accuser of the brethren. He loves to entice to sin and then condemn afterward.

I am so thankful for God's amazing grace through the sacrifice of His Son. Jesus sets people free from condemnation and from the bondage of secret sins. [John 8:32, 36]. People do not have to live enslaved to secret sins. Embrace the freedom Jesus offers.

  •   Come clean before God. Admit the truth in your innermost being.
  •    If you have any secret sins, claim the truths found in [John 8:32,36].
  •    Do you have a trusted brother or sister in Christ you can confess any secret sins you might struggle with? If so, make a point to get with them and come clean asking for their help and accountability.
  •    Rejoice in the truth of your forgiveness based on [I John 1:9].
