The road ahead is dark the way obscure,
My path confusing my feet are unsure,
Your light offers comfort and guidance,
Even when you surround me in silence,
I'm forced to slow the pace in my travels,
Navigating this steep road made of gravel,
To the left and to the right are great blessings,
I don't have to surrender to all the stressing,
Right here right now by faith I'm standing,
Receiving all the peace that You're handing,
You are not the author of all the confusion,
An unwelcome demonic blow of intrusion,
The path forward still obscure and unknown,
The heavy burdens are oppressive I bemoan,
I follow the lamp and truth of your counsel,
Though sinful and a woeful bad scoundrel,
You'll lead me home to Your warm embrace,
Where my transgressions are never retraced.
